A humidifier is used to increase the moisture content in the interiors of a home. There are many types of humidifiers, including a bypass, powered, steam and others. In this article, you will learn more about bypass humidifiers. Just like all other humidification gadgets, a bypass type should be regulated using an item called a humidistat. It is usually attached to the return air duct and can be integrated into the thermostat. Bypasses are very common gadgets and their price range is between three hundred and fifty dollars to five hundred and fifty dollars.
Some of the best options use hot water and are best used on a forced-air furnace as the key heat source. Since the installation of this item is not all complicated, some of you can try it out. The following steps describe the procedure for installing a bypass humidifier:
Choose where you want to install the item and the position should be on the return ducting part of your HVAC unit. Grab your pattern and fix it in place with tape. As you do this, ensure the template is positioned properly and then draw the opening to be cut. Take away the pattern/template, and now use the trace to cut an opening in the ductwork. Dismantle your bypass humidifier up to the housing, pick up the housing and place the opening you have just cut. Attach it using metal screws via the already-formed slots. This will depend on the humidification unit you have purchased. Some have clips for attaching them to the ductwork.
Next, you must cut another opening in the supply plenum where a six-inch pipe starter collar should be mounted. Using the six-inch pipe start collar mentioned above, connect the supply plenum to the humidifier opening. At the same, install another six inches damper in the ducting and mark its position. Now, it is time to return all the components of your bypass humidifier into the housing. You have to do this correctly to avoid any repeat jobs later on. Attach the water supply tube to the upper part of the water panel and fix a twenty-four-volt transformer to the side of the air handler. Just ensure that the position you install will be convenient for wiring.
Complete the wiring process on the high voltage section of the transformer and then mount the humidistat above the humidifier. The work of the humidistat is to analyze how humid the air is in a given area. Complete the wiring process on the low-voltage section of the transformer. If you are unsure how this is done, refer to the producer’s instructions for different types of heating sources. Next, you want to fix the drain tube to any other operational drain location in your home. Check if your humidifier has a saddle valve attached to a metal water line. Since it is self-serving, the water line should fill as you tighten the valve.
